Re: New Horizons, space combat and trading game
Just happened to peek at the chatter today and just want to mention the following,
Be aware that the missions, while simple, have different endings depending on your actions.
The xeno-archaeologist mission isn't over until you defeat the bad guys - it's the main mission of the game.
I know that laser sounds have been a big issue. My small update will include 4 laser sounds for the player, as requested.
While I can increase the number of sound channels, my machine is memory limited and I seem to be hitting a limit.
Enemy ships can miss you, while still firing, potentially hitting other ships who then respond. Misses are not audible.
The emphasis of the game was to provide necessary information through sounds, and some ambient effects.
I'm making excuses now, but the development of this game was experimental and I was learning along the way. It could be more efficient.
Hopefully, it's a bit of fun that players will return to from time to time when they are in the mood.
I am adding a few things, and aim to have an updated version available over the weekend or just after.
But after that, I want to try out some simpler ideas along different lines, applying what I've learnt to other areas.
And I still have to make a truly faction oriented game at some point.
