@Nepali gamer, I had an incredibly similar experience when I was 18 as well, with a really nice girl, also a friend, which also left me feeling a great deal of pain.
The one thing I'll say, is that if your attracted to people your friends with, that says a lot about you, it says your actually looking for love, I.E a real connection with someone, not just somebody you can jump into bed with. That says a lot about you.
Carry on making friends, meeting people and being a decent guy and things will work out, not with the girl from your school, but with someone.
As Ironcross said, time is on your side.
