The issue with front-end web development isn't really about font, it's about where things on a web page are in relation to one another. That is, placement of certain elements. Furthermore, being able to shrink, grow, and all the techniques used for making responsive web pages cannot be tracked using a screen reader. Ultimately, using the command to obtain information about font from your screen reader isn't going to solve your problem. Bootstrap is the most popular solution for responsive-web design, but you will never know how it looks until someone sighted looks at it for you. My job required some front-end work with Bootstrap, and I was able to make changes, but I wasn't able to determine if those changes yielded the results the team wanted on my own.
There is a simple answer to this: collaborate with somebody sighted. Realistically, it should only take another person no more than a minute to look at the web page you've produced and let you know if you made the right code change. All this is to say that yes, you technically can do front-end work, which I have to admit is somewhat of a bragging right when discussing what prior work I've done.
