For people asking which Manamon are good and which aren't, the game has only been out for 2 days. It's likely many of them haven't been used by anyone. Just gather a team of different types that you like the sound of and go from there. If something starts to not pull its weight, it's not hard to replace it later, as feral levels keep going up and there's no shortage of transformed and other strong Manamon to catch. And that's what Life Tonics or their weaker counterparts are good for.

I've made a bunch of progress, I'm at the cave past the outskirts past the rainforest. Normammal has transformed and is performing as anticipated. I'm only a couple of levels away from my Plumirage transforming as well. Interestingly, Fiendour is the one who's finding the fewest opportunities to kill things. Undead got nerfed a bit and it shows. It's not that he's bad, though. 3 physical moves of different types, all 90 power or more, with solid defenses and some utility moves. If your weak link is as good as Fiendour, you're doing pretty well.
