There's a few people around who talk about the evolution items. Some have to be holding it when they evolve, others have to be traded while holding it, and others just have to be traded to evolve, no item required.

Yeah the music games are pretty rough. I'm not sure it's actually possible to 100% most of them (90ish is the highest I've been able to get). There are two manamon that need to be in your party while you play those games to evolve (they do so once you finish a level with an 80% or better).
Finally, the gold donations for the market add up over time. I think you unlock everything at 1000000 gold.
