There comes a point where maxing speed won't matter, you're quite right. But I find at level 100, a lot of mons have between 230-250 speed. If you're gonna project much higher than that, don't dump points in to speed because you'll outquick stuff. If you're a whole lot slower than that (like 200 max speed or less) then it stands to reason that unless there's a certain speed matchup you want to win every time, don't bother. Generally the more coverage you have, the better you want your speed, at least up to a certain point.
Just hit the rainforest and the whole team is just about level 40. God but levelling Pyrefly is a pain. So glad it just got Swarm Storm. This thing is not quite as speedy as I thought it was. Or maybe I'm just not invested properly. I mean, it's not slow, but everything on Ogma's team seemed to hit me first, which is just weird.
