Re: Developer questions for you all

First off, do you mostly play games that have audio built in, or games that require a screen reader? In other words, is it preferable to you to be able to turn off the screen reader and have the game speak to you? or is it all the same to you because you usually have your screen reader on anyway?
I have no issue with both. In cases where the game is text-driven I like to have the control over how I process the text, in other words I like to use my screen reader in those cases. But a game that works mainly via audio has its own appeal too.

When you're playing browser games, what browser do you typically use?
I use Firefox.

Which OS are you usually using for games (windows, mac, iphone, android, etc)?
Windows 10 and iOS 13.x

Do you prefer browser based games, or games you have to download and install?
I don't really care much about the medium. But in general the genres I like to play were for the most part unlikely to appear on browser games so I use to play downloadable stuff instead.

Are you using NVDA, or do you use Jaws or something else? If you use something other than NVDA, what features do you use with your screen reader that justify the expense? Do these features help with gaming?
I grew up using Jaws and still do so but have NVDA as backup because even though Jaws is unholy expensive it still sucks on occasion.

If you could have one type of game converted over to a completely accessible game, what would it be? In other words, what type of games do you feel the VI community needs to have that they don't right now?
I believe the audio game community needs more true multiplayer games. I would murder for a competetitive multiplayer rpg like league of legens (obviously not necessarily as complex or toxic though).
I however also think that the audio game genre lends itself perfectly to the genre point ant click (obviously without pointing and clicking). Many existing point and click adventures could be made mostly accessive with careful planning and probably a couple thousand dollars more budget.

Lastly, and don't feel like you need to answer this one if you're not comfortable, but, what is your level of visual impairment? Do certain features in screen readers and/or games not matter to you because you have partial vision?
I am totally blind but used to have some sight. Back then I loved the visualisation feature of the audio game Shades Of Doom where you also could see high contrast minimum detail representations of you and your enemies on screen.

Also look here for an excellent video from the awesome youtube channel Game Makers Toolkit with some further thoughts on development for disabilities. He is mostly refering to low vision and not to complete blindness, but it might interesst you nevertheless.

Awesome to see such commitment and I'm very much looking forward to your future projects. Keep up the great work!
