Re: simular series to the wheel of time

Well game of thrones certainly does have magic elements, they just increase in frequency over the series, however it is a very realistic world though I do prefer it to WoT because characters do actually exit the series and because it is a lot grimmer. name of the wind I have but haven't read yet. Books of the fallen is a series that rings a bell but I  haven't read it, who is it  by and what are the books called?

There are lots of different fantasy books around but some do certain things better than others. Game of thrones and tad williams I'd say are my favourite all around authors, but other series I enjoy for different elements, brandon sanderson and wheel of time for world building, robbin hobb for the most realistic characterization (especially in her second series liveship traders), David eddings for some truly witty dialogue and occurrences, David gemmel for epic battles, and ursula leguin for style poetry and philosophy.

other books we re less good but still entertaining such as sword of truth series by Terry goodkind, steven donaldson's sword of truth or trudy canavan's black magician trilogy or Ramond feist's magician albeit I need to read more books by him sinse people say other books improve the world and setting a lot.

There are very few fantasy novels I found utterly terrible, though I don't have a high oppinion of Terry brooks shanara stuff and found it far too generic.

So other than sanderson there probably isn't anything exactly! like wheel of time, but there is lots of other stuff with it's own strengths.
