Okay okay, I looked at the forum. I guess my thought about the URL is that there doesn't seem to be any pattern or words when I first looked at it, but Jiv Games does sound better, although I'm not sure what Jiv means. Another point, you'll need to learn to take criticism more calmly. In this age, insulting an argument is basically insulting the person making the argument, so try to debunk the argument without resorting to calling it "stupid," "dumb," or any number of opinionated words, and definitely don't call the person themselves idiots. As the prime administrator, it will make you look like a child if you do this on your own forum, and indeed, anywhere else.
I admit, I was very spectical about a new forum, as they've come and gone many times before, and still am. After looking at the site, and parsing the URL's meaning, I find that the familiarity of JivGames to AudioGames is pretty welcoming, rather than what I expected to be a chaotic mess of other forums which have posts in tables :shudders: and little to no headings. I do hope this forum supports Markdown, please? I hated writing in BB Script or whatever when I tried to on this forum. The ease of navigation does give me a little hope in its success.
Now, for the rough part, getting it to stick. You'll need to attract users, basically by having content that no one else has, or supporting features that Audio Games doesn't. Supporting stories and skits is a good idea, but a forum is all about the content and features. Why should people post there, instead of on Audio Games? Audio files embedded right into the site when linked to? Discussion of projects that actually move forward? Game announcements only done on JivGames? JivGames hosting servers? A Windows, Mac, and iPhone client to the forum? Email notifications for new posts and comments, where the person can reply to the mail to post, please? All these are possibilities, and things which can set your forum apart.
