Not heard of that nes game there, but I always loved the kirby games where he could get different powers depending upon the monsters he absorbs, especially Kirby's fun pack aka Kirby's Superstar on the Snes where each monster you absorbed gave you a completely different power set, moves and abilities, some of which you'd need to complete levels, EG only the hammer type monster would let you hammer stakes into the ground, whilst only the sword or boomerang could cut string holding up some platforms.
As for Candy Crashers, the game's tactics, with you needing to move away from certain monsters and blast at a distance remind me of tactical battle, though I do wish you could get better info on where monsters are without having to wander the map with your exploration curser.
