Random idea for HC, to address the issue of forts and clans being so vital yet so hard to come by: a backpack. No, it's not what you think.
First, HC players can locate a special piece of loot called a backpack. Once they have it, it automatically holds half of all ammo, food, and med kits they find, and any two weapons (maybe the two set as favorite, I'm not sure how that bit works yet). The pack is not used in gameplay at all, and putting things in it is automatic. Where it comes into play is when the player dies. As soon as that happens, their pack is dropped somewhere completely random on any of the multi-player, non-mission maps. The location is random, but it is guaranteed to not be on the map the player starts on when they next log in. To make it even harder, what if the pack disappears after the player picks up three pieces of loot? They can try for a med kit or food, but 3 pieces is all they get; it's either find the pack, or loot and start over from scratch. Similarly, the pack would vanish if the player takes anything out of a fort. Oh, and no one else can find and steal a player's pack, just like quest items.
I don't know, it's just a thought I had about three minutes ago. What do people think?
