back then when I still have a PS4 and it's controller, what I did to connect it to a PC is using a USB. when you connect the controller through A USB for the first time, you'll hear that windows is installing the new software. wait a few seconds and if it's complete, you'll hear a sound like when you plug in a USB drive. as for DS4 windows, when you first launch the program, if you have a PS4 controller connected to your PC, DS4 will install some drivers then the control layout is changed automatically to an Xbox layout. in most games you have to use DS4 to play, otherwise your controller will act very strangely. for example, when playing all of the games from telltale, the confirm button will be the square button and the cancel button is the X button. when in a game, to pause you have to press the R2 button instead of the start button.
