Re: new to steam
In addition to the above, I can highly recommend slay the spire.
Think a mix of your dungeon crawling rpg, with tough difficulty and random items, plus a full blown collectable card game to deal with, as well as achievements, challenges and other fun things.
I got Steam working again after it died on me, pretty much just for this game, and it's more than worth it, despite the Steam client itself being so crappy.
The game is accessible due to a very handy mod that outputs text to NVDA, setup is a wee bit complicated since you need to subscribe to several mods then download read the spire and run that, but once it's done it's done, and if you've already got steam working and installed you should be used to convoluted setup.
See The text the spire page here, for full instructions.
I've also heard that the choice of games and hosted games titles can be bought through steam as well if that is your thing, though personally I prefer running them on Ios myself for portability, and of course they can also be run on the PC directly from the respective websites, so Steam probably wouldn't be too much of an advantage here.
