To be honest this game requires OCR in all the places just to read stuff even in the story. For example at the beginning of the stories (or somewhere in the middle) you can see what year it is, and some contextual stuff. Not that important but it is always good to know.
Actually knowing the year is very important to try to piece the story together since time plays a very important role.
