While I haven't looked, I'm pretty sure £300 would get me an entire stereo system, not to mention my first gen SE has shitty as hell speakers, and I was fine with those as well. Better speakers mean more enhancements typically, which i'd want to disable if I could to begin with. That, and the fact that I don't want face ID. The battery might be worth it, but I'd have to have 3 4 battery replacements in this to justify the price, and I'd rather just upgrade again to get 5g later down the road.
