It probably wasn't done processing the video yet, so I'd wait until the checkbox reports "Start Recording". I'm not sure why it would be suddenly happening like that, especially if you've recorded videos of similar length and content before. I'd check, however, your Windows resource usage. If you're using NVDA, there's an add-on found here that very easily enables you to check a summery of what's being used. You could also use the Task Manager to see a full list of tasks. Additionally, check that Windows isn't doing something in the background like updating. Windows 10 seems to use up a sizeable chunk of CPU and RAM anyway, so compare your usage against your maximum capacity.
