Fact is, here's the thing. If you want to do this, you'll have to take some liberties with things to make it work in a text environment where players interact. And, that'll lead to OOC drama really because everyone will want the coolest shit, they'l want to be Harry for want of a better analogy. nobody will want to be the anonymous kid in the back of Potions class who fumbles through the class and is the one splashed by Polyjuice and turns into a glittery pink spider thing will they? In other words, everyone wants to have the best char possible and fuck anything bad happening.
HP, IMO, is set up to atract twinks, HP nerds, and powergamers galore with how it is set up. Which is like pouring gasoline into a burning pile of nuclear fuel, then throwing fireworks on that, then a vat of alcohol. In other words, majorly liable to go into a firestorm you can't put out easily
