Re: Of Reason and Faith
Hi,
I have to agree with a lot of what Darkabomination said.
I had never thought about religion and faith in that way before, that they are two separate things, but it makes so much sense.
I also feel the same way about the bible. How can we possibly know that everything in it is the literal truth. It was written down 200 years after the events supposedly occured, by imperfect, corruptable human beings. Probably passed down from generation to generation, changing slightly every time it was retold, or the meaning slightly changed by people making translation errors.
I'm not saying that it can't be the literal truth, just that by now, what we have could be very different from the original version.
As for beliefs, I'm a live and let live kind of guy. I don't care what anyone believes, as long as they don't try to convert me, to push me to think as they do.
My purpose here is not to offend, just to explain my viewpoints. This h
as been a very interesting topic.
(Edit: By "supposedly", I'm not meaning to say that I believe said events didn't occur, only that they may have occured differently than how the bible says they occured now).
