Because that's what allot of people do when they have a product that they put allot of work and thought into, that over time grew into something way more unique and enjoyable than it was originally.
He knows people like it now, so now he wants a bit for it, so yeah, it's kind of a bummer, or would be if it wasn't only 10 bucks.
It happens all the time in mainstream games, they even have payed early access, which I personally will never understand because you get no promise that the hole thing won't just come crashing down because of some silly thing like lots of beta projects do.
Call this a public beta if you want, I think he should have gone payed a bit later my self, but it's still his choice, and it's still a fun game, now that he's out of public beta and ready to sell, if you liked the game and you have the cash, it's probably time to just stop complaining and pay for it...
Way to many peo ple bitched about this same exact thing with Swamp, even though it's a much more expansive game, and it was necisary to keep it running, which was just sad to see.
This game isn't supposed to be as expansive as Swamp, because it's a fast paced sidescrolling 2d shooter, and it was planned all along that it would become payed.
He maybe should have given people more warning, but again, if you played it before, this should be no real problem for you.
And if you live in a poor country where you can't even scrape together 10 bucks, well then I'm sorry, but what the fuck are you doing on the old village computer from 1990 that you somehow got windows 2000 running on so you could play some audio games instead of using it for schoolwork every time you walked 50 miles into town through the desert or jungle, I don't think the missionarys that donated it will be very happy with you... Tut tut.
But if you do have your own per sonal computer in a place like that? then why the hell can't you raise 10 bucks if you have a computer that you can play games on all day.
