@Garret, obviously there is no way to say for certain, but I am guessing the Lua scripting of the game will be the main game engine, the nuts and bolts, things like dungeon generation, saying what happens when a character's hp reaches zero, how scores and random number generators work etc.
I'd personally guess that the level of the dungeon a monster appears on will either be determined directly in the text file in which all the monsters other attributes like hp, attack and defense are determined, eg " name = orc, dl = 3, hp = 100" etc.
Alternatively there might be a general text file for the dungeon generation in which you specify what appears where, eg "floor 3 monster = orc, rat, kobold, wolf"
I don't know which way Jason will decide to have the text files work, or indeed if he will decide something else, but sinse as you said where a monster appears is important I'm guessing it'll be easy to spe cify.
