I can stream lossless to SB1 overwireless fine.  In this case slimserver
is actually sending either uncompressed wav or mp3 (if bitrate limiting
is set for the player).  Do you have bitrate limiting set?

You don't say how this is wired up - are both hops wireless?

With SB1, there is a relavely small buffer on the player (when playing
uncompressed).  This means the server needs to respond rapidly to
requests for new data.  The server does not cache any input data when
serving what it thinks are local files.  If the file are on a network
server and the server is slow responding, this could potentially cause
it to slow down reading the file.  This may be your problem.  

Have you tried running slimserver on the server machine itself (as then
the files are local and slimserver can access them imediately).
