Well, it's interesting because I can't get my SB2 wireless to draw more
than about 950mA under any condition.  Display fully bright (with a lot
of activity,) lowish impedance headphones hooked up (turned up full,)
digital output feeding another device and loaded correctly (not sure
why that would make any current difference.)

The display brightness setting has by far the most impact on the
current requirement.  About 150mA delta from full bright to off.

This tells me that the 3.3volt linear regulator in your SB3 accounts
for the "extra" 300mA current draw vice the previous switching
requlator in my SB2.  That seems like a lot to me, but okay, it must
be.
