Being skeptical in audio is a good thing! I had always planned to use a sub with the A8s. Their response is flat to about 43 hz. For some that is sufficient. I appreciate you being open enough to audition them. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. When buying speakers in this price range there's always going to be a compromise somewhere. It's a matter of individual preference as to where those compromises will be made.
