Brief excursion to the real world... Listened to a couple of very nicely recorded recent "R&B" albums: Keb Mo & Jack Johnson. Couldn't identify any polarity preferences on quick a/b or even the whole albums. The Keb Mo is slightly more processed than the JJ, but both have nice acoustics and sound relatively "phase free" (?). Great vocal sound in both cases, and a nice "in your room" feel. No audible evidence of over mastyering/brick wall limiting in either case...mind you, I haven't inspected the WAV's...
