Aparently this is vendor of the knob used in the hated BMW iDrive. Clearly SlimDevices is smarter than the guys at BMW. Given that it is all software driven, I'm amazed that BMW hasn't released a firmware patch to fix the thing. Every review in Car & Driver or Road & Track hates it.
