I can't for the life of me understand why high end stuff still uses
unbalanced RCA jacks

And lose the handles. I don't quite understand why they were added to
an audio component that weighs only 13 lbs.
Agreed that the handles are kinda silly.
Don't know if there are 19" rack ears, which are needed for some
audiophile setups. And rackmounting is just cool, even if it is silly
