You will still need some form of regulation and smoothing - batteries produce electrical noise through their chemical reaction - if you are coming straight off the battery. If you are suggesting plugging your SB3 PSU into a UPS it will sound worse as almost all UPS's are designed for PC's and the waveform they output is not sinusoidal. This is why there are very few high end audio devices using battery power. One is the $3,000 Sutherland Ph.D Phono stage http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_detail.cfm?Title_ID=11728§ion=equipment
There are a lot of people designing iPod headphone amplifiers using batteries but as they are for portable use it is not surprising. But if you want to have a go try a bit of googling for a design and let us know. -- Heuer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Heuer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28637 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
