The sounds are both good, I don't have the ability to describe the difference. The idea reminds me of The Absolute Sound folks talking about chocolate and yin/yang. The TP is clearly better looking. But the Benchmark is not bad looking, it very 'serious' in a pro-audio way. I do not use the knob. I played with it when I first got it, but I use my laptop and the browser 99% of the time.
