You might want to think about capturing your LPs in a 24-bit WAV format before splitting and converting to FLAC. The Squeezebox will handle 24-bit/48kHz FLACs, and they should sould better than 16/44.1.
Also, think about the future. Most likely at some point, ALL digital music playback systems will handle 24-bit.
