Why not get the Kingrex without the dac? I think I read there is an improved version coming out (the DAC version is said to better than the original, no?). Then you wont be forever thinking about how to use the feature.
I have a Trends T-Amp and think it is just grand as it is. I am sure it can be improved and beaten..
