Make an audiophile statement! Little Chinese valve amp into mini speakers - looks cool and sounds great. I use a Ming-Da into little Harbeths (LS3/5a updates), with the amp small enough to sit on one of the speakers. All off ebay for under 500 (pounds, unfortunately!)
