Yes, they're the best I had a *great* recoding of Elgar's Cello Concerto, played by Natalie Klein, that I recorded when she played with an amateur orchestra in a very reverberant old school hall (wood panels everywhere!). I just used a single Blumlein (?) pair of quality condenser mics straight to DAT. The cello sound was absolutely magnificent. Wish I still had it.
