Hi Howard, I would be very interested in what you finally decide on. Comparing my SB3 analog out with my Apollo CD player, the SB3 seems a little less 3-dimensional. I love the convenience of the SB3, but I don't want to give up any sound quality. I'm a little hesitant in buying a DAC without hearing it first. The only one I auditioned so far was a used Mark Levinson 36s. It sounded weak in the mid-range and upper bass. Not as warm as the Apollo. So, the search is still on.
