When I started on using Squeezeboxes I took an old pc with 384 MB RAM, 650 MHz P3 CPU and an old 120 GB Disk. Installed FreeNas with Slimnas on it and away I was. At first I only used softsqueeze for testing an to figure out if this was something for me. That was 6 months ago.
Today I have a Duet and a SB3 and a SBR on the way. And probably more to come :) So I thought that I needed a new server so I got an old 1,5 MHz P4 with 512 MB RAM and put in a new 320 GB disk. Installed FreeNas/SlimNas and moved my music to the server and switch over. And to my surprise the music sounded differently!! There were much more music and more bass. Simply more of everything. My music is ripped in flac and a little in mp3. How come the music sounds better just because the server is bigger? I mean its not like it does anything but send the music to boxes. But still it sounds better.
