I wasn't asking what it was...I was asking why it was obscured? Anyway, I presume your aim is to improve the digital output? - I notice the BNC and the fact that there are wires blocking one of the analogue RCA's... Are you trying to minimise PSU-induced jitter - or remove PSU noise from the digital outputs?
