Very interesting. I used Joe Cocker - Sheffield Steel Track 1. I made a
225 VBR mp3 with Foobar(lame). Difference against FLAC is -75dB in the
mix. Amplified a lot what's being lost is mostly part of the top end
harmonics and "crack" of the snare drum. This is a very well recorded
album with excellent drums vocal and bass in particular.

At 130 VBR... the differences are much more obvious ( only -42dB in the
mix) - now you can hear bits of bass and vocal line being lost! - the
difference track is very recognisable! - but... a quick a/b in the
software between the flac and mp3 makes them sound quite close on first
hearing.

This really is fascinating... :)

at 320 CBR there really isn't much in it at all!!!
