http://www.klein-hummel.com/klein-hummel/icm_en.nsf/root/prof-monitoring_studio-monitors_nearfield-monitors_O300 The bumpf on the page is largely correct and note the reasonably complete measurements which only tend to get published these days if they are good enough to help the marketing. The use of a quality midrange driver, sensible sized bass unit and active crossover are perhaps the main contributions to the sound quality. The box is sealed which gives a less extended but tighter bass. Thunderous deep bass will need a sub to shift the required large amounts of air. > 2. High sound quality is derived to a large extent from the quality of the midrange where the ear is most sensitive and most of the information is extracted from the music by the brain. Mounting speakers on a wall has advantages and disadvantages compared to mounting on stands in a room. It would be wrong to claim it is necessarily worse. If sound quality and room acoustics is taken seriously then the speakers will almost certainly be flush mounted into walls. Of course, if you purchase speakers designed to be placed on stands and then place them against walls then you will have to stuff socks in the ports and/or equalize to compensate for all the bass going forward. -- honestguv ------------------------------------------------------------------------ honestguv's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67252 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
