Altough I agree that some burn-in may be usefull, especially for speakers, I never noticed that burn-in process -strongly -alter the equipment's sonic signature. What I noticed, however, is that certain subtle characteristics of some equipment, only become apparent (can be noticed) after a few days' listening to it.
