Not only do you need a soundcard with SPDIF input, you also need one
that doesn't resample its input - so that disqualifies a large number of
cheaper options. Avoid mainstream cards such as Soundblasters and the
like. Semi-pro cards from people like M-Audio, Echo, E-MU, etc. will
record without resampling.
