75 ohm is today standard for video or spdif That,s why video or catv coax cable can be used as spdif cables. They deliberately picked an existing standard. Video cabling have much better bandwidth and are good for digital audio. In fact the demands on the cable is trivial compared to what it has to do when used for video, in video you can not easily get away with using cinc instead of bnc connectors for example... A much better idea then AES/EBU You can have 50ohm TV cabling in a really old house, you see ghost pictures with a modern TV :) -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe'Primare and Dynadio speakers (including a pair of Contour 4 ) Bedroom/Office: Boom Kitchen: SB3 + powered Fostex PM0.4 Miscellaneous use: Radio (with battery) I use a Controller various ir-remotes and a Eee-PC with squeezeplay to control this ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77397 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
