I trust you realise this is simply not true?

Information Theory explains the maths.
The fact that a good needle-drop is possible proves it. Nothing
essential is lost.

Almost all vinyl pressed in the last 20 years will have come via a
digital master source.

At the end of the day, there is no truly "analogue" signal in our
universe. Everything is quantised... (* This is my 56kbps moment :-)

Some people just like the sound of vinyl. It is not in any absolute way
superior. Nowadays it is a subtle FX treatment - an extension of the
remastering.

For example, even the best cutting heads can't physically cut onto
vinyl the sort of low frequency energy you can capture digitally.
Unfortunately, this indirectly lead to the "loudness wars"...

The real problem here is that early (1984-199x) CONSUMER digital was
not well implemented and recording engineers did not get to grips with
the best techniques until later too. Understanding of jitter, dither
etc also evolved.
In the meantime, vinyl held its own. It did sound nicer. Many people
still prefer it - despite the quantized provenance of what they are
listening to!

But this was nothing to do with any inherent flaws in the principles of
sampling/quantization etc - it was ALL about the quality of
implementation.

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...
