Replaygain would not fit my listening habits. It would destroy the loudness relationships between movements of a multi-movement work. If I had a regular 2 V output DAC, I'd definitely use the attenuators. With the 1 V output, I occasionally find a recording at such a low RMS level that I run out of volume with the attenuators in place. I've hooked up my Bryston 3B-SST amp for now. It allows switching between 29 and 23 dB gain. All that said, what is the real problem with running at -25dB or more? It can't be S/N. The noise from the DAC is simply never going to be an issue. So it must be some other digital bugaboo. -- Daverz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Daverz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89228 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
