RG in smartgain mode does not destroy the relative levels of
multi-movement works... but anyway, there's no problem running at -25dB
in my experience. Some folks however seem to have an aversion to ANY
level reduction. If this was 16-bit I'd totally agree with them, but
this is 24-bit and it just makes no sense at all.
