If borrowing a DAC is not an option, then your choices are narrow ones.
I tend to agree with SW that you're not likely to achieve SQ similar to
that of your Pioneer via a uDAC-2. You want a DAC at least equivalent
in performance to that of the Pio. If you go the external DAC route,
you may want to try an optical connection. In my case, for instance,
Toslink resulted in sound superior to that of coax. Of course, this may
or may not be true in your system.
