The downsampling would have to be really badly implemented to be audible. In any case, paying extra for 192 k "just in case" doesn't make much sense - I have not seen any studies that would have shown people can hear the difference between 96 k and 192 k unless a really bad downsampling algorithm is used. The studios also know this, and pretty much nobody records in 192 k - so most of the stuff advertised as "192k" is probably upsampled (or resampled from SACD).
