I've been a music lover and occasional musician for about 50 years. I've also considered audio gear/technology an important hobby for the same length of time.(notice I avoid the term audiophile!) I bought my first decent stereo system at Toronto HiFi in 1971, while my fiancee was getting fitted for her wedding dress a few shops down Yonge St. My hearing isn't wasn't it was after so many loud concerts along with normal high end loss, but I'm still interested in getting the best sound I can in the range I can hear. I'm constantly amazed at how many of the same issues, arguments and pure nonsense about cables are the same as they were 50 years ago! Now we can add USB cables to the cash machine. I won't tell you how much I spent on impressive looking cables back then, before I did some serious testing and came to my senses. Fortunately, they were easy to sell on Audiogon. Despite the incredible gains in technology and testing capability over the years, parts of the audio world move with glacial speed it seems. I doubt it will ever change.
