You say you just recieved notice, but the package was flagged out of date in March, so it is technically appropriate for it to be orphaned. Additionally, you could have adopted the package after it was orphaned. I agree that it was somewhat inappropriate to remove you as co-maintainer. Have you tried contacting the new maintainer via email? They said they are open to co-maintainership, so it may be a good idea to assume best-faith for a bit more here. Regards, Sam
