Hi Roger

The weight of the inner panels on the ASH 30 Mi is similar.
Schleicher has put the airbrakes in the inner panels which made them
considerably longer and heavier compared to the inner panels
on the ASH 25.
I agree, you best use a rigging aid but the outer panels are surprisingly
lightweight and can easily be removed for parking the glider in
a hangar built for a 15m glider. On the other hand, large span gliders are
usually equipped with an engine and get mostly flown to venues
away from the home airfield. This makes the whole rigging and de-rigging issue
almost irrelevant.

I’m still getting used to my new ship. So far I can only say that the handling
is even better compared to the ASH 25. The rate of roll is
about 30% faster - still, not quite as good as a modern 18 m glider but a huge
improvement on other gliders of that size.

Stand by for an update after I logged a bit more time in it. You are welcome to
come for a flight in it at Horsham. Interested????

Kind regards and a Merry Christmas to you and all your gliding friends at
Bacchus Marsh.
