That's a point. Although it's "citizen's band" you'll find various people who think they own a channel and don't like newcomers using it. e.g. 5 is supposed to be for emergency, 40 for "the road" etc. It goes the other way too, sometimes someone pops up for a chat on the channel you're using when you want to use it.
