Well

I need to eat a portion of humble pie.

Having phoned and emailed Bob Hall on this issue, I heard back. Not all
the details, but I was then pointed to other information, specifically
the Qld state representatives.

I am advised by Bob Hall that the GFA's financial commitment on this
issue is a maximum of $10,000. I am also advised that there was
unanimous support at the meeting for this action - although that is not
quite the story I hear elsewhere: there was no vote taken at the weekend
meeting, but there were reservations voiced by more than one GFA board
member.

There do appear to be some issues that are causing problems - whether
taking legal action as opposed to negotiating is the right course
remains to be see. Nevertheless, I was incorrect in my assumptions that
lunacy had taken hold at GFA HQ on this issue.
